The Crew Center
Legacy Community Recreation Education and Wellness Building funded by the community of Woodbine, Woodbine Schools, and Mary and Todd Heistand.
This project had an approximate design timeline of 6 months, with construction to substantial completion of 9 months. Construction start in late March / early April 2020, at the beginning of the great COVID shut-down.
Regulation pool for high school swim competition placed within a sprung structure, connecting to a main structure (full gymnasium) composed of steel scissor-trusses supported by precast concrete panels. Ancillary additions and infill housing a senior center, registered child care center, and a variety of meeting and education rooms are all comprised of light-gauge steel construction.
This building served as a stepping stone to a fairly large expansion of Woodbine, being adjacent to the envisioned Harvest Hills subdivision as well as the IGNITE Pathways STEAM center (open for students fall 2023) for the high school.
