“Firmness, commodity, and delight” remain the essential components of all successful architectural design.

Prior to working together, we must have a mutual interview to see if the chemistry is right. Our time together should be joyful as we turn the make-believe and imagined into reality.

Together.

The profound and the profane exist in everything if you take time to look. Life is about harmony; the two states are ever adverse and complimenting each other. It is when one feels a sense of awe and wonder that everything is in balance, and “just right”.

Life is about finding just the right balance between polar opposites that in the end becomes much more as two together than one could ever be.

Every project has three very critical factors: quality, size, and cost.

If the quality needs to be exquisite, and costs are very limited, well, we’re probably talking about making a nice jewelry box.

If the size of what we’re working on is “set in stone”, then we’ll need to ensure we keep a firm grip on the quality and cost to ensure your project happens.

If money is no object, FANTASTIC! Good for you! You’ve made it and are probably not a good fit with me - you’re looking for someone that REALLY can help you spend your money and ensure you of an incredible outcome. I’m too tethered to the Earth to be of the right mind to help you out, sad to say. No interview needed.

In 2007, Carl Elefante wrote an article in National Trust's Forum Journal where he articulated the quote below:

“The greenest building is. . . one that is already built.”

This idea encapsulates the concept of “embodied energy,” the investment of materials and energy in existing buildings. And also takes into consideration the massive amount of money and energy required to negate all of that work (demolition), prepare the site for new construction, and then the time, energy and money required to build new.

If you believe in this ideal also, let’s talk….and make dreams into reality.
